1 cup of butter.
2 cups of sugar.
3 cups of self-rising flour.
1 cup of buttermilk.
2 tsp of vanilla.
Southern caramel icing recipe (double the recipe).
Butter and sugar are mixed together in a bowl. Beat the butter and sugar together until smooth.
Mix in the eggs one at a time, then add flour and buttermilk in that order.
Pour in the vanilla and keep beating until it’s well mixed up.
Prepare three 9-inch cake pans. Pour the batter into the pans evenly, making sure to spread it out evenly.
When the oven is at 350°, bake it for 25 to 30 minutes.
Cakes should be moved to cooling racks.
Make the southern caramel icing according to the directions on the package. Then, when the cakes have cooled down, ice them with the caramel icing.
