*Ingredients:

°2 cups flour °1 1⁄2 teaspoons of salt °1 tablespoon of sugar °4 teaspoons baking powder °1⁄4 teaspoon baking soda °4 teaspoons Crisco Flavored Butter °1 cup buttermilk.

*DIRECTIONS:

PREHEAT oven to 400°F; MIX 2 cups all-purpose flour, 1 1/2 tsp salt, 1 tbsp sugar, 4 tsp baking powder, & 1/4 tsp baking soda in mixing bowl ; CUT shortening to mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

STIR in 1 c buttermilk to dough forms (dough will be very loose & sticky at this point).

SPREAD flour on large wooden board; TURN dough onto a floured board and knead gently 10-12 times or until no longer sticky, reflour board as needed during kneading.

DIVIDE dough in half; pat or roll every half to an 8-inch circle 1/2-inch thick. CUT cookies – pressing down – with a 2-inch cookie cutter.

REFORM the scraps by working them as little as possible and continue to cut.

PLACE cut cookies on ungreased baking sheet, edges just touching; Brush the tops of the cookies with whole milk.

BAKE for 15 min IMMEDIATELY brush the cookies with margarine (or butter) after baking.
